Its sleek contours and artfully incorporated fielded insets bestow upon The Eternal Buckle an unmatched style, perfectly harmonizing with the elegance of an Eternal Watch Strap.
The Rivet and The Buckle is fabricated from 316L Stainless Steel. 316L stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments. Its resistance to corrosion is primarily due to the presence of chromium, which forms a passive chromium oxide layer on the surface of the material, protecting it from oxidation and corrosion. While 316L stainless steel has slightly lower strength and hardness compared to the standard 316 grade, the difference is generally negligible in most applications. It still exhibits good strength and can withstand a variety of mechanical stresses.
After the fabrication process, The Rivet and The Buckle is either polished to a "brushed" finish or polished and coated using a PVD coating. Below are the details about each of the types of finishes.
To achieve the brushed polish on 316L stainless steel, our process begins with a meticulous cleaning to eliminate any trace of dirt, grease, or contaminants. Carefully following the grain within the stainless steel, each component undergoes a precise polishing technique, ensuring the desired brushed appearance is achieved. We persist in the polishing process until the surface exudes the pristine brushed effect. To add the final touch of refinement, we utilize a high-quality stainless steel polishing compound, gently applying it with a soft cloth to buff the surface, thereby enhancing its brilliant shine while eliminating any lingering imperfections. Lastly, a thorough wipe-down is performed, and a meticulous inspection is carried out to identify and address any areas necessitating additional attention or touch-ups.
After a polishing process, PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is applied to The Rivet and The Buckle. PVD coating is a surface coating technique that involves depositing thin films of various materials onto a substrate through the physical vaporization and condensation process. The substrate is prepared and placed in a vacuum environment, where the coating material is vaporized and then condensed onto the substrate, forming a thin, uniform film. PVD coatings offer benefits such as enhanced hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and improved surface properties. With precise control over film thickness and the ability to coat a wide range of substrates, PVD coatings was Eternal's choice in coating The Rivets and The Buckles to offer customers a more scratch resistant coating for the Black and Gold (Coming Soon) coatings.
The fabrication, polishing, and coating processes of the Eternal Buckle undergo a continuous evolution. Any modifications or enhancements made to these processes are exclusively determined at the sole discretion of Eternal Watch Straps.
